Promoting equal opportunities and non-discrimination

The project will promote equal opportunities and non-discrimination by implementing informative educational measures of employees of state and local government institutions involved in policy making and implementation, and their capital companies on the integration of the principle of equal opportunities and non-discrimination in policy planning, implementation and evaluation processes. It is planned to develop a training programme, which will include at least 6 modules, covering the following grounds of non-discrimination - gender, age, disability, ethnicity, religious beliefs and sexual orientation, as well as to ensure the implementation of training for employees of state and local government institutions and their capital companies. The project will develop a digital handbook for sectoral policy makers and will also be updated as necessary during the project. Face-to-face educational and discussion events will also be organised on current issues and challenges in the field of equal opportunities and non-discrimination for policy makers and implementers. The project also plans to provide support to employers on inclusive work environment and anti-discrimination issues by developing and updating methodological materials on this topic, as well as developing and implementing a training programme for employers and employees of companies and NGOs on inclusive work environment and anti-discrimination issues. Informational educational activities will also be organised for employers to promote an inclusive working environment, diversity management and anti-discrimination, as well as measures to reduce the pay gap between women and men in companies and organisations. The project also plans a pilot project - activities to reduce the pay gap by carrying out an assessment of the real situation in Latvian companies and organisations in relation to the understanding of pay transparency issues, creating a model to reduce the pay gap, which will then be tested in practice in Latvian companies and organisations to assess its effectiveness, and based on the conclusions could make changes in national legislation. As a result of the project, 211 national, regional or local public administration or public service institutions, 259 associations and foundations, micro, small or medium-sized enterprises, 1200 employees of state and local government institutions and 1036 employers and their employees will have received support. 2 236 persons will have developed their professional competence in the field of equal opportunities and non-discrimination. Total cost of the project: EUR 2 000 000, of which EUR 1 700 000 (85%) is ESF Plus funding, EUR 300 000 (15%) is national budget co-financing. Project implementation time: the project will be implemented from the conclusion of the agreement on the implementation of the project, but not longer than until 31 December 2029
