Establishment of Bauska Active Recreation Park

The project "Establishment of Bauska Active Recreation Park" provides for the improvement of the public outdoor space with an area of 2.4 ha, the creation of pedestrian access paths, parking lots, the construction of a multifunctional asphalt velotrass (pump track) with a skate park area, a gravel pavement adventure velotrass suitable for different age groups, the improvement of a "quiet" recreation area, the installation of children's playgrounds broken down by children's age groups (2-6 years and 6-12 years), the construction of a multifunctional playground (a skating rink, an event venue, a streetball and floorball court), the installation of energy-efficient lighting and decorative greenery, the construction of rainwater drainage and the installation of a functional (interactive) fountain. The network of pedestrian paths will be complemented by an alternative walking ‘feeling’ path along which it is potentially envisaged to place various educational, educational, interactive, etc. objects with emotional and sensory development elements and devices. The establishment of such a park will complement the range of recreational and sports facilities for a wide audience - families with children, seniors and various active recreation enthusiasts, because the park's layout will provide various activities for all groups of society and different interests. Bauska Active Recreation Park is planned as a place where the new meets the old, where peace merges with active recreation, where everyone will find the most suitable rest for themselves, thus promoting the sense of belonging of society to this place and community, promoting solidarity, reduction of discrimination and social interaction of different groups of society. Solutions in the public outdoor space will improve the functionality of the territory, because there will be an opportunity to develop various services (health promotion, recreation, active recreation, cognition, etc.), to take climate change adaptation measures and reduce the risks of public safety by organizing the object, providing lighting and video surveillance, which, in turn, will also contribute to the reduction of crime. Investments in public outdoors will not only improve the quality of the living environment and increase public safety, but will also indirectly contribute to the development of services offered by existing businesses in the restored public outdoors or to the start-up of the economic activity of new service providers. Thus, the development of public outdoor space will create a multiplier effect for the development of entrepreneurship. Project planned total cost 2 161578,42 EUR, ERDF funding 500 000 EUR, co-financing of Bauska municipality 1 661 578,42 EUR. Project implementation time: 07.2024.- 12.2026.
