Development of public outdoor space in Ķekava city main square in Ābeldārzs

The aim of the project is the development of public outdoor space in the functional territory of the city of Ķekava, improving the quality of the living environment and increasing public safety, implementing the development of public outdoor space in the main square of the city of Ķekava in Ābeldārzs. The target group of the project is 32635 inhabitants of Ķekava county, as well as tourists and visitors of the county, which is about 500 000 persons. Project costs are 1 633 500,00 EUR, including ERDF funding 48.97%, or 800 000,00 EUR, of the total eligible costs of the project. The municipality of Ķekava has financing of EUR 833 500. The project monitoring and outcome indicator - newly created and restored open areas (public areas) in the urban environment - 20 456 m2, which will be reached by 31 December 2026. As a result of the project, it is planned to create a territory open to the public - a multifunctional main square of the city of Kekava with walking paths, benches, recreation places, park plantings and arts and environmental design objects for public events and the realization of various creative expressions of the inhabitants, the realization of communication between residents and the improvement of the quality of the living environment. The project is located in the centre of Ķekava, where historically there has been an apple orchard, next to the highway A7 Via Baltika, which connects Rģu with other European capitals, Ķekava River with park, Daugava, public buildings - Centre for New Ideas, Ķekava Secondary School Primary School, Ķekava Music School, trade and business centres - TC "Dālderi" and "Ķekava kernel", public transport stops, cultural and historical objects - Dole People's House and Ķekava-Doles ev.lutter.church. The outdoor development project will follow all three New European Bauhaus principles: aesthetics, sustainability, inclusiveness. Activities to be carried out under the project include pedestrian paths, landscaping elements, electricity and water supply leads, free cranes, rebuilt access roads that only provide access to the public outdoor space, and publicly accessible hard surface parking areas using nature-based solutions, art and environmental design objects for public events, active recreation equipment, tree, shrub and flower plantations, installation of electric charging points for charging digital devices and support for micromobility, purchase and installation of waste sorting tanks, installation of bicycle stands, purchase and installation of benches and tables for outdoor use, construction of environmentally friendly lighting, waterproof pavements for pavements, squares, installation of video surveillance with loudspeakers, general activities of the project include design, during which the public and accessibility experts/specialists will be consulted, construction works, construction supervision and author supervision, publicity measures and ensuring project management throughout the project life cycle. The project provides for actions promoting equality, inclusion, non-discrimination and respect for fundamental rights.
