The aim of the project is to develop access to high-quality health care services for patients at the National Rehabilitation Centre ‘Vaivari’ (hereinafter ‘NRC Vaivari’), to ensure equal access to health care and to strengthen the health system by developing health care infrastructure, promoting the creation of an appropriate environment and microclimate for patients and staff of the centre. The project applicant is the medical treatment institution NRC Vaivari, which is an object of national importance of medical rehabilitation, health and social care, education and science, V level specialized medical treatment institution in Latvia. The activities envisaged in the project are directly aimed at improving the quality of health care services for patients, some or all of whom have a morbidity corresponding to priority health areas - cardiovascular, oncology, medical rehabilitation. As a result of the implementation of the project, the premises of the centre with an area of 1920 sq.m. will be renovated and equipped. Construction works will be carried out in the 3rd division - spinal patients rehabilitation department, which implements rehabilitation program for patients after spinal cord damage (the 3rd floor of the northern wing of the building), in the 4th division - neurorehabilitation department, which implements appropriate rehabilitation programs (the 4th floor of the building, the southern and northern wings). By improving the availability of premises and improving their internal planning, conditions will be provided for more rational planning of rehabilitation services and increasing the flow of patients, without reducing the provision of inpatient services, but planning to increase the number of outpatients in connection with the development of outpatient and day inpatient services. As a result of renovation works, patient chambers will be repaired in order to ensure optimal access to the chambers for patients with mobility disabilities, in accordance with the existing regulatory requirements regarding accessibility of the environment for persons with special needs. The chambers will be equipped with a medical oxygen supply unit, as well as modern consoles with electrical switch, internet connection, lighting and nurse's call button will be installed next to each bed for the convenience and comfort of patients, as well as furniture will be replaced in the rooms. Physiotherapy halls, common areas, as well as premises of medical personnel will be arranged and restored accordingly, internal water supply, sewerage, heating, ventilation, low-voltage systems will be arranged. For the convenience of clients and medical personnel, a lift system will be installed (ceiling lift/rail system in the physiotherapy hall, patient chambers). In the renovated premises, the necessary furniture and medical equipment will be purchased.The total eligible costs of the project are EUR 3 628 773.00, incl. 3 084 457.05 euro financing from the European Regional Development Fund, 540 277.25 euro financing from the state budget, 4 038.70 euro financing from the budget of NRC Vaivari. The project is planned to be implemented within 29 months from the signing of the agreement on the implementation of the project in the 3rd quarter of 2024 and to be implemented by the 4th quarter of 2026.
