In the second half of 2024, Liepāja City Council plans to launch the project ‘Development of public infrastructure necessary for entrepreneurship in Liepāja’, the aim of which is ‘Development of public infrastructure necessary for entrepreneurship in Liepāja industrial area in accordance with the municipality’s development programme and local plan, promoting business growth opportunities and environmentally friendly territorial growth’.Industrial areas are a valuable part of the urban environment and making well-considered investments in these areas will improve the economic situation of the city by expanding opportunities to develop, attract investors and create new jobs. The territory of the former factory "Liepājas metalurga" is also included in the industrial territory of Liepāja, where different manufacturers and service providers develop their economic activities and their functional connection is ensured by both Meldra and Dūņu Streets. In Liepāja, Meldru and Dūņu Streets are territories owned by the municipality, where according to the Urban Territory Plan are appropriate for the promotion of entrepreneurship, at the same time Meldru Street is a planned street of urban significance in accordance with the "Sustainable Development Strategy of the Liepāja State Town and Southern Kurzeme Municipality until 2035". At the same time, the territory of the former factory ‘Liepājas metalurgs’ qualifies as a significantly anthropogenically affected, degraded and polluted area in large areas, at the same time it is bordered by the Natura 2000 site nature reserve ‘Liepājas ezers’, in accordance with a local plan.The following main activities and their sub-activities are envisaged for the project: Sections of ‘Meldru’ and ‘Dūņu’ streets and their related infrastructure, including the reconstruction and construction of sections of ‘Meldru’ and ‘Dūņu’ streets, including rainwater sewerage, pedestrian pavement and bicycle path, taking into account environmental accessibility solutions, and the construction of green solutions, the construction of a street lighting system and low-voltage networks with CCTV cameras to promote public safety, the reconstruction of the surface and underground communications infrastructure without increasing the technical parameters characterising its service capacity, including the laying of communication cables in protective pipes, the relocation of external power cables, the reconstruction of the water supply and domestic sewerage, design, author's supervision and construction supervision services.Operations for water management (commercial support):2.
