The aim of the project is to improve equal and timely access to quality, sustainable and affordable health promotion and disease prevention services by carrying out nationwide health promotion and disease prevention measures.The target group of the project is all residents of Latvia, especially those at risk of social and territorial exclusion, such as children and young people, persons with substance and process addictions and population groups at risk of social exclusion, parents, employees (especially older), as well as medical treatment institutions, educational institutions, planning regions, municipalities, associations and foundations, law enforcement and child rights protection institutions (for example, courts and social correction institutions).As the main activities of the project will be carried out public health research, nationwide health promotion and disease prevention measures, developed and distributed information materials of various types and formats, taking into account the established publicity requirements. The project will introduce and implement measures in ten areas to prevent premature mortality, incapacity for work, promote quality of life and improve health literacy of the Latvian population at all ages and for different target groups (promotion of healthy eating, including oral and dental health, reduction of addictions, promotion of physical activity, promotion of mental health, promotion of sexual and reproductive health, health promotion and improvement of primary disease prevention, reduction of trauma, reduction of infections and promotion of vaccination, education of the population in the provision of first aid, introduction of skills programmes for prenatal and early childhood parents).In the implementation of the project, the horizontal principle of equality, inclusion, non-discrimination and respect for fundamental rights will be ensured.The total eligible funding available for the implementation of the project is EUR 7 220 450, including ESF+ funding of EUR 6 137 382, and the State budget co-financing of EUR 1 083 068. if flexibility funding is granted following the European Commission’s decision on the mid-term review, the approved project will have to be amended accordingly, specifying the information provided in the summary accordingly.By 31 December 2029, it will be ensured that at least two institutions – the project applicant and the associated cooperation partner – have received support. The project applicant – the Ministry of Health as a cooperation partner has attracted the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, because the cooperation partner implements public health policy in the country in the subareas of epidemiological safety and disease prevention, as well as ensures the implementation and coordination of health promotion policy.The cooperation partner together with the Ministry of Health will participate in the implementation and monitoring of at least four public health studies and at least one health promotion and disease prevention measure. The cooperation partner together with the Ministry of Health will ensure the necessary information and publicity measures in relation to the implementation of the abovementioned study within the framework of the project.The project is planned to be implemented from the moment when the agreement on the implementation of the project has been concluded until 31 December 2029, or until the end of the funding available for the project, as provided for in the section ‘Implementation schedule’ of the project application.
