The aim of the project ‘Health promotion measures in Southern Kurzeme Region’ is to improve access to health promotion and disease prevention services for all residents of Southern Kurzeme Region, in particular those at risk of poverty, social and territorial exclusion in all age groups, as well as to increase the indicator of healthy life years.The project plans to implement 2 408 activities in Southern Kurzeme Region, which will raise public awareness of the importance of healthy nutrition and physical activity in the daily life of the population, improve the physical and emotional well-being of the population, develop sustainable healthy lifestyle habits and reduce the risks of lifestyle-related diseases.The following activities are planned under the project: General health-promoting gymnastics under the guidance of a physiotherapist or sports specialist for children from 5 to 6 years of age; Cardio training for all residents of the municipality; Nordic walking lessons; Swimming classes for 2nd grade students (8-9 year olds); Educational lesson about raising children without violence for adults; Educational lesson on mental health for all citizens; Educational lectures on addictions/co-dependencies for young people.As a result of the planned activities, the awareness and education of the population about healthy lifestyle and the importance of physical activity in everyday life will be improved, dietary and lifestyle habits will change, the availability of health promotion and disease prevention options for the local government population at risk of territorial exclusion will increase and the availability of services not only individually, but also at the level of family and local government society, covering all local government inhabitants at risk. The package of measures will contribute to an increase in the number of healthy life years, reduce the burden of health care and leave a social (increase in the quality of life) and financial (increase in the municipal budget from social tax contributions) positive impact on the municipality in the long term.The total eligible funding available for the project ‘Health promotion measures in Southern Kurzeme Municipality’ is EUR 259 786.00 (two hundred fifty-nine thousand seven hundred and eighty-six euros and 00 cents), including the European Social Fund + funding – EUR 220 818.10 (two hundred twenty thousand eight hundred and eighteen euros and 10 cents) and the State budget funding – EUR 38 967.90 (thirty-eight thousand nine hundred and sixty-seven euros and 90 cents).The duration of the project implementation is planned from QI 2025 to QIV 2029.
