In the project "Establishment of a day care centre for persons of pensionable age in the region of Southern Kurzeme" the municipality of Southern Kurzeme plans to establish a day care centre and provide its services to persons of pensionable age, including those with dementia, as well as to purchase a customised and equipped special vehicle for the provision of care in the house, which complies with the specific support objective 4.3.5 "Improve equal and timely access to quality, sustainable and affordable services; developing social protection systems, including promoting access to social protection; improving the availability, efficiency and resilience of long-term care services", as set out in measure 4.3.5.1 "Increasing the availability of community-based social services". The creation of the day care centre and the provision of the service provided for in the project will improve the possibilities for seniors to live in their usual environment, in their homes, to receive more diverse community-based social services as close as possible to their place of residence, while seniors' relatives will be able to be sure that their parents, grandparents are safe and looked after during the day. The purchase of the vehicle envisaged by the project will ensure that the residents of the administrative territory of the municipality (including rural territory) receive the service of the remotest places in the nursing home, because in rural areas the residents live scattered, often the country houses are not equipped with showers, bathrooms and the provision of hygiene is limited, often the customers themselves do not want to be transported to the hygiene points established by the municipality. The target group of the project is persons of retirement age for whom according to the assessment performed by the Social Service the level of care 1 or 2 has been determined and the necessity of the service of the day care centre has been indicated in the developed individual social rehabilitation plan. Total financing of the project is EUR 1 775 991.46 with value added tax, of which 85% is from the European Social Fund plus (ESF+) financing of EUR 1 509 592.74 and EUR 266 398.72 from local government co-financing. The project is expected to be implemented by 31.12.2029.
