Smart management of the heating of buildings

The aim of the project is to promote the development of smart municipalities by creating a smart building management system that accumulates data, is able to analyze it and manage at the same time different indoor temperatures in the building according to the usage habits of employees and visitors premises, as well as energy costs, thus achieving at least 10% thermal energy savings (MWh). Project activities: 1. Development and implementation of the smart solution in the performance of the autonomous functions of the local government and the resulting administrative tasks. 2.Development of infrastructure necessary for implementation of smart solution. 3.Publicity measures on the implementation of the project. 4.Project managementThe project provides for the development of a smart platform for building heat management and data storage, equipping rooms with indoor sensors to automatically control the heating system, providing the possibility to adjust different temperatures in each room or group of rooms. In addition, in several buildings, the system will have to be able to use the cheapest available energy source at a given moment (in order, for example, to be able to react, switch from a pellet boiler to an electric boiler, in moments when the price of electricity on the exchange falls below the threshold of the cost price of the pellet boiler), be guided by the available behavioural data. The project envisages using aspects of artificial intelligence, achieving smart, self-learning and predictive remote building heating management. Main tasks within the project: 1. to integrate the artificial intelligence (self-learning) forecast into the high-precision control equipment - building heating control equipment - algorithm, which is responsible for remote regulation of the heating unit, based on the indoor air temperature;2. to supplement the data set to be analysed by artificial intelligence with actual and historical meteorological data and with parameters characterizing the insolation; 3. to supplement the algorithm with energy cost data (for use in some specific buildings);4. to supplement the algorithm with the possibility to use solar energy for heating, if PV panels are installed for the building (in some buildings);5. to find complex solutions for the smart heating regulation of the target (selected) buildings (including additional equipment necessary for the implementation of the project). The total eligible funding of the project is up to 2436000,00 EUR (two million four hundred thirty-six thousand euro 0 cents), including ERDF funding 2070600,00 EUR (two million seventy thousand six hundred euro 0 cents), local government co-financing 365400,00 (three hundred sixty-five thousand four hundred euro 0 cents). Expected results: -1 smart solution implemented. -Included 9 Vidzeme municipalities - Energy consumption (MWh) savings in 10% of the buildings included in the municipal project. For the calculation of the achievement of the national indicator, an average value is determined as the initial value over a period of 3 years (2021, 2022, 2023) prior to the submission of the project application. (For individual buildings, other consecutive years have been applied for the calculation of the initial indicator in order to determine an objective initial indicator - see Annex to the project application with energy consumption data and binding comments.)The project includes 44 buildings from 9 functional areas of Vidzeme municipality municipalities. The project applicant is Gulbene municipality, project partners are Cesis municipality, Ogre municipality, Limbaži municipality, Madona municipality, Smiltene municipality, Varakļāni municipality, Valka municipality, Valmiera municipality. Project implementation time: from 01/03/2024 to 31/12/2029
