In accordance with the autonomous functions laid down in the Law on Local Governments, the municipality is obliged to ensure the education of the population, including the possibility to obtain compulsory education and to ensure access to pre-school education, secondary education, vocational education, interest education and adult education. It is planned to do this by merging two existing special educational institutions (Pamūša and Zālīte Primary Schools) and establishing the special educational institution ‘Mežones Primary School’ of Bauska Municipality. The location chosen for the implementation of the project is located in a real estate owned by Bauska Municipality Municipality - in the premises of former Mežotne Primary School. The building is located in the centre of Mezotne village with easy access to public services, public transport. The building of Mežotne Primary School is in good technical condition, renovated in 2017. A loan with a repayment period up to 2047 has been received for the implementation of the renovation. The area is partially fenced. There is a stadium in the immediate vicinity of the educational institution, which will be used to provide the learning process. In order to ensure an appropriate learning environment for the provision of special educational programmes in an educational institution and to improve infrastructure, the existing two-storey building requires reconstruction works for the adaptation of the premises for the provision of the learning environment: adaptation of the premises on the 1st-2nd floor of the existing building (1882m2) for the creation of a special school (including the reconstruction of doorways, door assembly, partition dismantling and utilization, floor covering replacement, installation of partitions, installation of partitions, installation of toilet facilities, construction of shower rooms, reconstruction of the central entrance node, installation of elevator, electrical wiring renovation, replacement of lighting fixtures, performance of finishing works, landscaping), as well as adaptation of the basement premises (33.20m2) (including the reconstruction of doorways, wall dismantling, door assembly, ground lowering, floor pie construction, performance of finishing works, incl. 15 sleeping rooms, cleaning room, hallway, connection to the existing building (entrance node), sanitary room, medical room with lounge, room for 24-hour carers, hope class/recreation room/training room. territory improvement works (~680m2): ensuring the accessibility of the environment (~40m2). Dismantling of the existing pavement at the site of the planned annex (~240m2). Improvement of the direct adjacent territory of the annex to the main building (~20m2). Construction of new pedestrian pavements, including tactile cobblestones, for independent access to/from the boarding house (30m2). Improvement of the territory of the annex section after completion of construction works, sowing of grasslands (~350m2). Installation of 4 benches with backrest and armrests and 2 bicycle racks. to implement the above, the design works of the building and the annex will be carried out, construction design expertise, construction works, author's supervision and construction supervision, cadastral survey of the building for the commissioning of the object. The eligible costs of the project are EUR 2 509 706.87, of which ERDF funding is EUR 386 468.00, municipal funding is EUR 2 123 238.87. The eligible costs of the project application are planned for the development of the construction project (EUR 71 929), construction works (EUR 2 418 558.74), author's supervision (EUR 9266.33) and construction supervision (EUR 9 952.80).
