The objective of the project ‘Renovation of the Liepaja Port Ship Traffic Management Centre’ (‘the project’) is to develop environmentally friendly port infrastructure, reducing the impact of ports on the urban environment, climate and improving port security. In order to ensure the achievement of the objective, the Project will implement the renewal of the port vessel traffic management system, including the following activities: Supply and installation of software necessary for the operation of the vessel traffic control centre;Supply and installation of equipment necessary for the operation of the vessel traffic control centre;Renovation and/or construction of structures (towers, masts) necessary for the installation of equipment;Supply and installation of software for the vessel traffic management, including the port information system;Installation of the vessel traffic control centre, including the operators’ places of work;Adaptation of the Liepaja port master’s service building to the operation of the new system, including the operation of the reserve centre for vessel traffic management operators;Integration of Liepaja port navigation technical means into a single monitoring and management system through the replacement of navigation technical equipment, including own means.The project will result in the achievement of the value of the output indicator ‘number of ports in which investments have been made in the development of public infrastructure, including environmentally friendly port infrastructure, the availability of alternative fuels, power grid connections for berths and safe navigation conditions’: one port. The implementation of the activities under the project will not only improve maritime safety, but also achieve a reduction in environmental pollution. By providing opportunities to reduce ship downtime for ships visiting the Port of Liepaja, the amount of CO2 emissions will decrease by an average of 52 tons/year. The total eligible costs of the project are EUR 4 018 579.41, of which EUR 3 415 792.50 is from the European Union Cohesion Fund and EUR 602 786.91 from the Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority. The implementation period of the project ‘Renovation of the Liepaja Port Ship Traffic Management Centre’ is in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement on the implementation of the project, providing that the implementation of the project will be completed by 31 December 2026.
