The project application “Fluorinated Compounds by Nodal Synthesis (F-NODE)” (application number 101042067) was submitted under the ERC-Starting Grant sub-programme of the Frontier Research Grants of the European Research Council of Horizon Europe and was assessed above the quality threshold, but did not receive funding, thus fully in line with paragraph 31.3.1 of the Regulations of the SAMP Cabinet of Ministers (support is provided for in the Horizon Europe Programme and Programme 10. IP above the quality threshold would assess but not finance projects that have received funding). This project aims to create a new perspective on how to construct fluorine-containing organic molecules. This objective is to be achieved by 1) developing new advanced reagents for the transfer of fluoromethylene (CHF) and fluoromethine (CF), or nodular C-F chemistry; 2) developing new synthesis methods based on advanced reagents; 3) by validating reagents and methodologies on biologically significant targets or materials with promising properties; 4) re-evaluation of the currently accepted practices in organic synthesis laboratories. In order to achieve the objective of the project, it is planned to carry out non-economic industrial research, which provides for the creation of a product in the 2-4 technological readiness stage (TRL).The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR 1 499 990.00. It is planned to finance 85% of the European Regional Development Fund financing in the amount of EUR 1 274 991.50 and 15% of the State budget financing in the amount of EUR 224 998.50. The planned duration of the project is 58 months (from 01.12.2024 to 30.09.2029), with a mid-term of 28 months (March 2027). Given the interaction between the activities envisaged in the project, most of the results planned in the project (14 reports and 8 publications out of 10 planned) will be achieved at the end of the project. Results expected in the middle of the project - 2 publications.
