Riga Stradins University doctoral grants

The aim of the project "PhD grants of Riga Stradins University" is to strengthen human capital capacity in research necessary for economic development and competitiveness by supporting doctoral students and applicants for scientific degree in smart specialisation fields. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to support at least 39 doctoral students and scientific degree applicants whose doctoral thesis contributes to the development of the specialisation areas of the Latvian smart specialisation strategy. Within the framework of the doctoral grant, it is planned to grant funding to cover remuneration and research expenses in order to carry out research related to the successful development of the doctoral study process, doctoral thesis or theoretical research and artistic creation work. As a result of the implementation of doctoral grants, at least 25% of the grant beneficiaries will obtain a doctoral degree in science and new research jobs will be created at Riga Stradiņš University in terms of at least 9.75 full-time equivalents. The award of doctoral grants will respect equality, inclusion, non-discrimination and respect for fundamental rights. The total cost of the project is EUR 2 381 531.96, of which EUR 2 024 302.16 is co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund and EUR 357 229.80 from the State budget.
