RSU participation in the Horizon Europe programme

The project aims to increase RSU involvement in international research projects by preparing at least 66 project applications assessed above the quality threshold under Horizon Europe and Programme 10. In tenders for IP sub-programmes, and strengthen participation in ERIC consortia and ESFRI platforms, including the two new ones, thus contributing to the RSU scientific capacity and the visibility of Latvia in the European Research Area. Within the framework of the project, two main activities will be implemented: 1. Support for project preparation: Support under Horizon Europe and Programme 10. preparation of applications for projects submitted under IP sub-programmes and assessed above the quality threshold. 2. Participation in international research infrastructures: support for participation in European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs) – EATRIS and SHARE, as well as in the ELIXIR platform of the European Strategic Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI). Expected results: • At least 66 project applications assessed above the quality threshold under Horizon Europe and Programme 10 have been supported. IP • Three National Partnership Plans have been implemented for participation in ERIC consortia EATRIS and SHARE and ESFRI in ELIXIR in key sectors for Latvia to strengthen the competitiveness of RIS3. As a result of the implementation of the National Partnership Plans, researchers from Latvian scientific institutions will be involved in further training or cooperation activities. At least 30 researchers per year in the EATRIS activities of the ERIC consortium and at least 20 researchers per year in the activities of ERIC SHARE and the ELIXIR platform ESFRI. The total eligible costs of the project are EUR 1 398 000, of which 85% or EUR 1 188 300 is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and 15% or EUR 209 700 by the Latvian State budget. The project runs from 1 June 2025 to 30 November 2029. The implementation of the project will significantly strengthen RSU's research potential and international competitiveness by promoting sustainable development and active participation in the European Research Area. The project will contribute to the creation of high added value scientific results in RSU and Latvian scientific institutions, as well as strengthen the position of RSU towards the strategic goal of becoming one of the leading research universities in Europe. The project activities are not related to economic activities. Communication and visual identity activities within the framework of the project will be financed from the project applicant's own resources. The project applicant will implement measures to ensure communication and visual identity requirements in accordance with the current Articles 47 and 50 of Regulation 2021/1060 and the laws and regulations laying down the procedures by which institutions involved in the management of European Union funds ensure the implementation of these funds in the 2021-2027 programming period, in accordance with Paragraph 31 of Cabinet Regulation.
