The aim of the project is to increase the safety of passenger and train movements, the quality of passenger service and comfort by ensuring the accessibility of the railway infrastructure for all users, especially persons with reduced mobility, by modernising existing and constructing new passenger stations on railway lines: Riga – Jelgava, Riga – Tukums, Riga – Krustpils, Riga – Skulte (upgrading) and construction of new stations on the lines: Riga – Bolderanew Riga – Cesis. Achieving the objectives set requires a comprehensive modernisation of the rail infrastructure related to passenger transport and handling and the following key actions: 1.Advanced platform construction: design, author's supervision and construction works. 2.Development and installation of unified information passenger notification (VIAS) and video surveillance (VNS) systems. 3.Changes in the software of the existing MPC alarm system. 4.Construction supervision and construction project expertise, FIDIC Engineering services. As a result of the project, convenient accessibility of rail transport will be ensured for all groups of passengers, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the technical specification for interoperability (TSI), constructing elevated passenger platforms with equipment and accesses48 stations and installing informative audio - visual passenger notification system and video surveillance system. The planned implementation date of the project is not later than 31 December 2026: The total estimated cost of the project is EUR 30 958 473.00, including: - EU Cohesion Fund co-financing - EUR 26 314 702.00 - LDz funding - EUR 4 643 771.00. By 30.12.2023 project performance indicators were not achieved and EUR 20 738 150.94 has actually been implemented. In order to achieve the project objective and planned results, project development and access to funding from the European Union Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 are necessary. Considering that the planned results were not achieved in the 1st phase of the project, but will be achieved in the 2nd phase of the project in accordance with SAM 3.1.1. Developing sustainable, climate-resilient, intelligent, secure and multimodal TEN-T infrastructure, Action 3.1.1.3. ‘Development of railway infrastructure on the trans-European transport network’.
