The project ‘Health promotion activities in Smiltene and Valka counties’ is planned to improve equal and timely access to health promotion and disease prevention services in Smiltene and Valka counties by promoting healthy lifestyle habits and public awareness of the importance of health prevention. This will facilitate access to health care for local residents, especially those who are in groups at risk of social exclusion and poverty.The project implementers - Smiltene municipality as the beneficiary of funding and Valka municipality as the project partner. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to implement various activities that cover the population at all age stages and different target groups. The activities will focus on promoting quality of life and improving health literacy in the following areas:· Sexual and reproductive health – educational activities for adolescents;· Reduction and prevention of addictions – information activities to reduce addictions, promote critical thinking;· Mental health – lectures and practical activities to promote mental health;· Healthy diet – practical activities on the importance of healthy nutrition for different population groups;· Physical activities – swimming, gymnastics, yoga classes, hiking, cycling, cardio-training and other physical activities;· Health promotion and improvement of disease prevention – health literacy activity "Verified health!".The planned health promotion and disease prevention activities are evidence- and data-based, the justification of which is provided in the description of the Target Group and in the accompanying document "Justification of the amount of costs included in the project budget". that the proportion of the population that will introduce healthy lifestyle habits will increase, the population will more often engage in physical activity, improve the monitoring of health parameters and reduce the spread of diseases.The project will implement 1203 measures in the municipalities of Smiltene and 608 measures in Valka (1811 in total), which will have a direct impact on the health and quality of life of the population.The total cost of the project is EUR 200 732, of which EUR 170 622.20 (85%) is financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and EUR 30 109.80 (15%) comes from the State budget. Accordingly, Smiltene municipality costs 141 220.00 EUR, of which 120 037.00 EUR (85%) European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) financing, but 21 183.00 EUR (15%) come from the State budget and Valka municipality costs 59 512.00 EUR, of which 50 585.20 EUR (85%) European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) financing, but 8 926.80 EUR (15%) come from the State budget.The project will be implemented from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2029.
