The aim of the project is to ensure uninterrupted operation of the Salaspils Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) and improve the energy efficiency of the existing plants, thus reducing the risk of greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution. The project focuses on sustainable use of resources and adaptation of Salaspils WWTP activity to the requirements of climate change. The main activities of the project include: 1. Rehabilitation of treated waste water discharges in order to improve the quality of waste water discharges and prevent risks of environmental pollution by ensuring the continuous operation of waste water treatment plants. Outputs and indicators planned for this action: With the lining method, the outlet of treated waste water is restored - 3178m; Renovated outlet wells - 51 pcs.; Construction supervision contract has been concluded - 1 contract. 2. Improving the efficiency of the treatment of waste water treatment plants by envisaging the installation of more efficient and up-to-date plants at the cost of the first waste water treatment stage. Expected output and indicator for this action: Delivery and installation of wastewater treatment plant grille and grille conveyor - 1 set. Electricity savings - 0.779 MWh/year. 3. Rehabilitation of sewage sludge dewatering and treatment plants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve resource use. Expected output and indicator for this action: Supply and installation of a new sludge press and its equipment - 1 set; Greenhouse gas reduction - 1.286 t CO2 per year; Electricity savings - 11.803 MWh/year. Total population for which the quality and efficiency of waste water treatment will be improved as a result of the implementation of the project: 18 659 inhabitants. Planned project costs: Total eligible costs of the project: EUR 2 746 810.00, of which: EU co-financing: 1 785 426.00 EUR. Private funds of the project applicant: 961 384.00 EUR. Ineligible costs of the project, VAT: EUR 576 830, which will be covered by the project applicant's private funds. Project implementation time: 18 months from the signature of the Treaty on the implementation of the European Union fund project, which is planned for the 2nd quarter of 2025.
