The aim of the project is to ensure the modernization of the STEAM study environment of the medical colleges founded by the University of Latvia (UL) and the University of Latvia and the introduction of technologies corresponding to the industry in the study process. The project’s objective is in line with Latvia’s National Development Plan 2021. – 2027 The total eligible funding of the project is EUR 7 937 368, including EUR 742 708 for the University of Latvia Agency "Riga 1st Medical College of the University of Latvia", EUR 910 888 for the University of Latvia Agency "P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia" and EUR 969 386 for the University of Latvia Agency "Riga Medical College of the University of Latvia". 1. Purchase and installation of STEAM study equipment, materials, ICT and equipment at LU and LU colleges, where the following sub-actions are planned: 1.1. Purchase of STEAM study equipment and facilities at the University of Latvia, 1.2. purchase of STEAM study equipment for UL colleges; 1.3. Purchase of equipment and furniture for the STEAM study rooms for science and nature houses. 2.Implementation of information and communication technology solutions in the educational process of the University of Latvia and its medical colleges. 3. Construction for modernization of STEAM study environment, in which the following sub-activities are planned: 3.1. construction of the transition between the University of Latvia Science and the University of Latvia Nature House; 3.2. reconstruction and repair of premises necessary for the UL STEAM study environment; 3.3. Reconstruction and repair of STEAM study rooms at the University of Latvia Medical Colleges.4. Measures to ensure communication and visual identity requirements. 5. Project management and implementation.In the framework of the project, it is planned to modernise the UL study environment and adapt it to the industry-relevant technology study process in 39 STEAM study programmes in the following thematic areas of education: Life sciences (4 apps); Environmental Protection (3 apps), Chemistry, Chemical Technologies and Biotechnology (2 apps), Physics, Materials Science, Mathematics and Statistics (6 apps), Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Management and Computer Science (4 apps), Geography and Earth Sciences (5 apps), Health Care (13 apps), Architecture and Construction (2 apps).The project implementation time is 47 months from the time of signing the agreement on the project implementation. As a result of the project, the Medical Colleges of the University of Latvia and the University of Latvia will be equipped with technologies that comply with modern industry standards and it will attract local and international students, promote the competitiveness of higher education in Latvia and promote the acquisition of knowledge.
