The aim of the project is to promote the development of a multimodal public transport network by rail as the backbone of the public transport system by establishing a public transport connection point at the railway station "Ilguciems", Riga, and at the same time promoting micro-mobility in the overall mobility.The following activities included in the project will be implemented by developing the infrastructure of the public transport connection point "Ilguciems": development of the infrastructure necessary for pedestrian movement in accordance with the principles of universal design, thus contributing to an orderly and accessible environment for all groups of society, including people with functional impairments and people of different ages; reconstruction of temporary parking areas and carriageways with public access, as well as construction of access roads to provide convenient and safe access to the connecting point to be developed, while also ensuring convenient access to public transport stops (rail and bus); construction of lighting necessary to improve the security of the project area; greening of the territory, installation of benches for outdoor use to create a more pleasant and comfortable environment for everyone. These improvements will contribute to the accessibility and comfort of the public outdoor space by providing recreational facilities for different groups of the population, including seniors, persons with reduced mobility and parents with small children; the installation of a bicycle parking lot and a bicycle repair station, which will promote a change in mobility habits for citizens who intend to use the railway stop "Ilguciems" as a transfer point; Rebuilding of the water supply pipe at Slokas Street on the connection section of Tapešu Street, as there is a significant risk of damage, installation of a free crane to ensure the availability of high-quality drinking water in the public environment. Achieving the objective of the project and establishing a public transport connection point at the railway station ‘Ilguciems’ would contribute to the development of the public transport network by rail as the backbone of the public transport system and at the same time strengthen micro-mobility in overall mobility. Diverse population groups would be given the opportunity to stay and move around in a well-equipped and safe public outdoor space, promoting comfortable and environmentally friendly movement in the city.
