Phase II of the project ‘Establishment of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Education, Culture and Creative Industries “TabFab” in the real estate at Miera iela 58a, Riga’ was implemented in accordance with the conditions of artisanship and programmes, with EUR 4 298 164.60 from the SAM 5.6.1. and EUR 1 728 897.36 from the SAM 4.2.1.8, including EUR 1 469 562.75 from the European Regional Development Fund and EUR 259 334.61 from the State budget. The project aims to ensure the modernisation of higher education institutions – universities and colleges – STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), including the modernisation of creative industries and medicine, the study environment and the introduction of technologies corresponding to industry in the study process. In order to fully achieve the aim of the project, not only construction works were carried out, but also three buildings were rebuilt to ensure the study process of the Latvian Academy of Culture. Funding was also directed to fully equipping buildings with furniture. As a result of the project, students and teachers of the Latvian Academy of Culture now have access to fully equipped and modernized premises to ensure a modern learning process. The division of the project into several stages improved the final result of the project, because initially the project was intended to implement only the construction works and related activities, then in stage II of the project it was also possible to purchase equipment and furniture in order to have fully equipped buildings at the disposal of the Latvian Academy of Culture. The number of objects built as a result of the project - 2 objects. A long house (previously the building of the creative industries business incubator) and a National Film School with a filming pavilion. Initially, as a result of the project, one of the built buildings was intended to transfer the activities of the creative industries business incubator, but taking into account the changes made, the built building has been transferred to ensure the highest level study process of the Latvian Academy of Culture, including the operation of the study business incubator. Taking into account these changes, the building has acquired a new name - GARA house, which at the same time characterizes the dimensions of the building - a long house and symbolizes the spirit as a higher, mythical being. The name of the building was created by the Latvian Academy of Culture while working on the implementation of the Interior Project. In turn, an integral part of the National Film School is the filming pavilion connected to the film school, resulting in 1 object.
