Road Connection to Mäntyselkä

City of Kuusamo’s plan is to establish new industrial area to Mäntyselkä. There is already a new waste water purification plant built in 2021 to Mäntyselkä. To speed up the implementation of investments at Mäntyselkä industrial area the project Road Connection to Mäntyselkä was founded. The core of the project is to build new road connection from road VT20 to Mäntyselkä. The length of the new road is 1400 meters. It improves the conditions of cars and trucks driving to and from Mäntyselkä industrial area and prevents cars using the road connection throw houses/living area. The new road will make it possible to start using the industrial area and to implement the planned investments. The core aim of the project is to make the traffic to and from Mäntyselkä smoother and more safe. The activities within the project: Action 1: Construction of Säynäjäjoentie (1380 m) Action 2: Construction of the road connection lines to VT 20 Action 3: Rainwater management system pipelines etc. Action 4: Lightning of the road Action 5: Road pavement (main part to be implemented 2024) The Mäntyselkä logistic area supports the materials handling operations of local companies. The needed labour for the project is 43 man-years, 14 persons directly employed plus 10 persons undirectly.
