This project strengthens the digital and green technology development capabilities in the Tampere region and thus promotes national and European self-sufficiency, resilience and competitiveness. The project concentrates specifically on strengthening industrial technology development, renewal and effectiveness by increasing funding, internationalization as well as improving networking and collaboration. Tampere region’s technology companies, which support twin transition within mobile work machines and vehicle industry, have a big untapped potential to increase RDI-efforts, gain international success and produce significant increase in business to the region. Technology solutions include for example, electric and autonomous mobility, battery technologies and -systems, data economy, security critical systems and connectivity. The two guiding visions, in which all the actions of this project are linked, have been defined for digital and green technology development in Tampere region. The visions represent long term targets and reaching them will require wide collaboration and various development actions by different actors. The actions of this project are linked to these long-term visions in order to make sure, that the goals are relevant and the probability of the continuing of the use of the created operating models stays high. VISION 1: Technology companies in Tampere region utilize the opportunities of EU-programs, -projects and -networks to the maximum for improving their development and competitiveness. The opportunities for utilization are supported based on customers’ needs in a systematic and target oriented manner and with seamless collaboration between all the actors. VISION 2: Tampere region is one the best known international hubs for development expertise in digital and green technologies for vehicle and work machine industry. It is a RDI center and export accelerator, attracting new business, strategic partnerships, investments and talents. The project includes two sets of objectives and actions: Objective 1: Identification and profiling technology development needs of companies capable of utilizing the EU-funding. Based on this analysis, the strategic focus fields and consortiums for the industry are selected to maximize results and effectiveness. Objective 2: Creation and piloting new models for service offering in EU-funding, which will be used for forming a clear, attractive and easy-to-understand entity. The aim is to focus on the main possibilities of the EU-funding and EU-networks for the companies. Objective 3: Development of an annual calendar, which is based on EU -opportunities and service offering, to help companies and other actors in the region to plan actions proactively based on their strategic priorities. Objective 4: Creation of a communication and marketing package with a focus on digital, green and industrial development within the vehicle and work machine industry. Different approaches for international partners and companies will be taken into account. Objective 5: Creating partnerships for long term collaborations to produce continuous added value to the region and its companies. These trusted partners could include innovation centers, international clusters and known consultants. Objective 6: Developing and piloting a service model, for the region’s SMEs, to identify the challenges in connecting with international value networks and then enhancing their capabilities. As a result of the project, Tampere region is known as an internationally significant hub for digital and green expertise for vehicle and work machine industry. Self-sufficiency, resilience and competitiveness within the domain of industrial technology development have grown stronger, which reflects as positive development in other industry sectors as well.
