The main objectives of the project are: 1. to improve the ease and smoothness of business trips, commuting and traveling via Joensuu station area (one of the most important transport hubs in North Karelia region) 2. improving the accessibility of new and existing businesses operating in the station area and within the whole North Karelia region 3. improving traffic safety in the area 4. improving the prerequisites for sustainable traffic. The City of Joensuu will construct the streets and municipal systems of the III construction phase of the Joensuu Asemanseutu project along Itäranta between Siltakatu-Kettuvaarantie. The project is located near Joensuu city centre, between Pielisjoki river and the railway station. The project consists of the construction of the street areas including sub-soil and surface construction as well as traffic guidance and signage systems, lighting, plantation and street furniture to make the street environment safe and enjoyable. The project's business requirements and achievable improvements are in line with several municipal and regional strategies and programs.
