Road 5040 leads from Koli village to Ylä-Koli. The total length of the road is 3.6 km and the average daily traffic volume is 723 vehicles. Several tourism businesses and tourist destinations are located in the immediate vicinity of the road. Around 251 000 customers visited Koli National Park in 2022, and practically everyone visits the peak of Ukko-Koli. There is a partially paved and lighted pedestrian and cycling route between the Koli Village and the junction of Jerotie. After that there there is no safe path for walking and cycling or road lightning, which causes significant dangerous situations on Ylä-Kolintie. The preparation of road and construction plans aims at the implementation of the construction project.
