The aim of the project is to develop Vuokatti's tourism by boosting investment in the area. This will be achieved by highlighting the investment potential and opportunities of the area to domestic and international investors. The project will focus on the Eastern Ski Slopes area, but the Vuokatti area will be considered more broadly, as information on other developments and activities in the area is essential for investors. The project will take measures to attract investment to the Vuokatin Eastern Slopes area in particular. These measures include the preparation of a concept plan for the Vuokatti slopes, which will bring together the views of different actors on the long-term development of the area. In addition to customer-oriented business development, the plan will focus on landscape considerations, sustainability from the point of view of both the environment and local residents, and the impact of new smart technologies on the area's activities and use. The ski slopes and their surroundings are home to summer and winter trails, hiking trails, cross-country ski trails and other trails. As part of the overall plan for the area, guidelines will be drawn up for attractive, functional and safe routes. The project will produce a more detailed plan for the development of coastal activities and year-round tourism in the Eastern Slopes area. This will also include visual modelling as part of the presentation of the area to investors. The visual modelling and other material will serve as a practical tool for presenting Vuokatti to investors. The development of Vuokatti ski slopes area is a very important development for tourism in Kainuu as a whole. Kajaani University of Applied Sciences is the main project partner, and the municipality of Sotkamo and VMK are also involved in the project. Funding for the project is sought from the Kainuu Regional Council ERDF. The total budget is 450 000 €. The duration of the project is 1.5 years, starting in April 2024.
