The goal of the project is to improve the business environment and boost investments of the small and medium-sized enterprises in Kuusamo. The project also improves traffic safety and pedestrian and cycling connections. The goal is also to improve the safety of snowmobile and ski trail routes at highway crossings. In the project a pedestrian and bicycle path will be built beside the highway 5 between Nissinvaarantie junction and Nissinjärventie junction. The length of the bicycle path is 6,7 kilometers. The building plan also includes a common underpass for pedestrian and cycling traffic as well as skiing and snowmobile traffic. The project also includes improving bus stops and street and private road connections.
