The main objective of the EHEÄ project is to create new RDI activities, business and well-being in Satakunta by combining technology, culture and social and health care expertise. The project deals with a challenge of major societal importance. The social and health care sector is challenged by growing numbers of clients and insufficient professional resources. The situation is forcing to focus on essential statutory care activities. The strategies strongly suggest to shift the focus towards preventive and well-being supportive services and call for cross-sectoral cooperation in their development. The care sector needs input from other sectors. Clients would benefit from the cultural and technological content in preventive, low-threshold services, enabling them to access support in their homes and everyday environments. When a person's ability to function declines, meaningful activities such as cultural services may become inaccessible. Research has shown that the former have a major impact on mental well-being and the experience of inclusion and meaningfulness in life. Not all cultural services are accessible to people with disabilities as such, but advanced technologies enable the provision of location-independent services and multi-sensory experiences. Good examples can be found considering different dimensions of the functional capability. For example, the development of environments that activate mobility (physical and digital environments such as virtual reality) and games that use multisensory experiences can contribute to physical ability. Mental well-being can be supported through the development of equipment, spaces or services to support relaxation, the development of sensory accessibility of spaces through a range of technical and spatial design tools, and the use of indicators to assess workload. Cognitive functioning can be supported through educational and memory games and content. Social functioning can be promoted through the development of community services, such as home tourism and remote arts. If properly designed, experiential services and technologies will complement the service system and contribute to people's health and well-being. This is precisely the theme of EHEÄ project. The project will create new skills and networks that build on the strong know-how in Satakunta region but combine it in a new way. The project will be implemented in cooperation with the technology, well-being and culture sectors. The project will: 1) identify the needs of target groups for experience and well-being services that complement social and health care services, 2) develop and test content and tools for experience production for different target groups, 3) model services using experience technology and cultural content and their impact, and 4) create a collaborative model for service and product development. The project will result in 1) the creation of a CultureTestBed collaborative model for the development of preventive experience and well-being services for the well-being region and municipalities, linked to Satakunta TestBed. 2) Experience-based technology and service prototypes promoting well-being and their trials, 3) business, service and collaboration models, 4) publications and events, 5) well-being indicators, and 6) a situational picture as a basis for the development of cultural and technological well-being services. The results are widely exploitable. SMEs and service providers in the technology, culture, tourism and well-being sectors will benefit from the network of collaborators but will also gain tools for RDI activities through the co-development of innovations, which is expected to generate new RDI activities, innovations and business, also after the end of the project. The project will produce a range of services supporting well-being that are missing in the municipal and social welfare field and will clarify and model the role of these services as part of the well-being areas and the work of municipalities in promoting well-being and health. The project is expected to increase the well-being of the citizens of the region.
