The goal of the project is to increase the identification of needs- and research-oriented health innovations in the capital region, the creation of innovations and their commercialization on the international market, and to build a common communication channel for the health innovation ecosystem. The project increases the visibility of health innovation activities in the capital region and supports RDI activities between research institutes, welfare regions and companies. The project strengthens Finland's visibility as a leading country in health innovation and increases the export potential of health technology. The application is based on three basic pillars like 1) cutting-edge research, 2) welfare area operations and 3) business cooperation. The focus of the project is multidisciplinary cooperation between different actors, such as universities, companies, municipalities, the third sector, and state and international actors. The project supports the implementation plan of the growth program for the health and welfare sector coordinated by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, which strengthens RDI activities in welfare areas. As a result of the project, 1) the identification of early-stage innovations and public-private collaboration are strengthened, 2) the needs of well-being areas are brought to a platform for common needs, 3) an ecosystem map of health innovation actors is created as well as the route guide, and 4) infrastructures are made available that support research institutes, well-being areas and companies in the promotion of needs- and research-oriented innovation activities. High-level research combined with an innovation ecosystem that supports commercialization increases the interest of the international capital market and global large companies. The project's actions will contribute to achieving a leading position as an innovation operator in the health sector in the Nordic countries.
