Tomorrow´s Sports and Health Campus – connects companies, users and RDI actors

The project responds to the needs of well-being and health technology companies for obtaining R&D support and expertise in developing technology solutions, product development processes, innovation, and commercialization in close cooperation with the University of Tampere and other regional research institutions, the City of Tampere, service providers, and end-users. The project gathers and assembles a new type of network and center of expertise with sports, well-being, and health technology companies and R&D service providers as part of the Tampere Health ecosystem. Hakametsä area serves as an innovative urban development platform in the project. As a result of the project, a network of actors and concrete operating models for the future Sports and Health Campus are created. The project thus strengthens the region's attractiveness and expertise, especially in the area of sports and health technology. The project also supports the growth of business of the related companies, both nationally and internationally. The project creates a permanent operating model for harnessing research, testing, and innovation environments effectively and productively for the use of companies in cooperation with higher education and the business sector. On the one hand, the project meets the need for promoting health and innovating and developing preventive services in cooperation with the residents in the area of the Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa, companies, and the university and regional research institutions. Through preventive and rehabilitative services, and the digitalization utilized in these, the need for care and social and health services as well as the related costs can be reduced. The project is managed and coordinated by the Tampere University with partners including the City of Tampere, the Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa, Tampere Research Center of Sports as part of the UKK Institute, and Varala. Business Tampere acts as a collaborative partner. The project combines innovative urban and co-development environments, the Hakametsä area, and the Pirkanmaa well-being area, bringing together companies, users, and regional R&D actors.
