Digital Health 3: Development, Utilization, and Scaling of Innovations and Technology in the Health Sector

Digital Health 3 is a strategic project that strengthens collaboration and innovation in the health sector in the Tampere region. The project's goal is to enhance the research and innovation capabilities of the region and its companies, ultimately helping healthcare actors improve prevention as well as the quality, accessibility, and effectiveness of health services. The project particularly focuses on the development of products, technologies, and services by SMEs, as well as the piloting and commercialization of new technologies. The project also emphasizes interregional and international collaboration in accordance with smart specialization strategies and the new Health Strategy. The goal is to enable innovations in a real healthcare environment and develop the ecosystem with the specific needs of the field in mind. Collaboration between research and educational institutions and companies is crucial for the creation and adoption of new solutions. The project's aim is to strengthen research and development activities and support innovation, bearing in mind the goals of climate change and sustainable development. Additionally, the project aims to ultimately improve the capability of healthcare to enhance patient experience and the efficiency of healthcare. Key objectives and actions of the project include strengthening research and development activities. This will be achieved by supporting sustainable growth, development, and innovation, creating a favorable environment for local growth. Furthermore, the project seeks to enhance the attractiveness of the region's sector from the perspective of companies and experts, and to promote collaboration with educational and research institutions. The goal is also increased business-driven innovation activities for the development of SMEs' products, technologies, and services, as well as the piloting and commercialization of new technologies. Climate and sustainable development goals are considered in the development of innovations, and sustainable development principles are integrated into the project. The adoption of advanced technologies is accelerated through potential pilot projects and collaboration. Collaboration and networking through interregional and international cooperation are key elements of the project. Project partners and stakeholders include Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), the Pirkanmaa welfare region (Pirha), Tampere University, the City of Tampere, Istekki Oy, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health (STM), Health Tech Finland ry, Pirkanmaa Entrepreneurs, the Welfare Sector HALI ry, Red Brick Accelerator, and VTT. Collaboration with these actors is crucial for achieving the project's goals. Collaboration with ecosystems such as the AI ecosystem, the Chip ecosystem, and the Circular Economy ecosystem supports the project's objectives. Interregional and organizational collaboration with other cities and economic development companies, as well as collaboration with Business Finland, are also important for the success of the project. The Digital Health 3 project aims to create a strong foundation for research and innovation activities that support sustainable economic growth and competitiveness in the Tampere region.
