The 3DHydrogenEngine project strives to accelerate the transition to a hydrogen-based energy system by developing hydrogen fuelled internal combustion engine technologies. A working hydrogen engine would have a significant role in our energy transition, but questions relating to the construction of the engine and hydrogen embrittlement remain. In this project we answer those questions through metal 3D printing and local testing. The goal is to find engine structures that suit hydrogen, solve hydrogen embrittlement challenges that relate to hydrogen engines, and thus advance their use. In addition, we mean to develop and test innovative solutions regarding hydrogen engine development together with local companies, support RDI-work in the region and thus support regional competitiveness and regional businesses. The main target groups are the manufacturers of internal combustion engines and other businesses working in the production and supply chain relating to the internal combustion engine.
