Cognitive Robotics Initiative for Industry 5.0

Cognitive Robotics Initiative for Industry 5.0 aims to integrate cognitive robotics into manufacturing processes. The goal is to develop seamless collaboration between humans and robots, where robots understand work objectives, adapt to changes, and work alongside human employees. The project focuses on three main areas: improving human-robot interaction, developing intuitive programming methods, and facilitating skill transfer through learning. The project comprises several work packages that address robotic senses, methodologies and testing, interface design, safety, and pilot projects, such as smart welding robotics, flexible assembly robots, and safe robotic environments. The key objectives are to increase industrial productivity, compensate for workforce shortages, and reduce environmental impacts. Additionally, the project aims to promote the broader adoption of cognitive robotics technologies in Finnish industry, enabling the faster implementation of advanced technologies and innovations. The project is expected to result in significant improvements in production efficiency, safety, and energy efficiency. This project brings substantial added value to the Finnish and European manufacturing industries by enhancing competitiveness in global markets. The goal is to make national and European factories more competitive by leveraging advanced cognitive robotics solutions that enhance production and reduce costs. This promotes innovation and technological development, ensuring that Finnish companies can thrive in a rapidly changing and competitive international environment. The project will also strengthen international cooperation with European partners and is expected to generate new research collaboration in the thematic area.
