Architectural design of the Wilderness and Nature Culture Heritage Museum

The project "Architectural design of the Wilderness and Nature Culture Heritage Museum" will implement the architectural plans of the new museum located in the current town hall of Imatra, and find out the alternative location of the collection center with related measures. The importance of the plans is essential for the foundation of the museum. The plans include both the necessary modification work of the current building and the clearance work of the new building needed for the conservation and collection facilities. The plans are drawn up to the extent and accuracy that, based on them, the necessary plan changes can be made, building permits can be applied for, and other design work and tenders related to the construction contract can be carried out. The project requires exceptionally extensive planning, which will also provide work for local businesses and operators as well as offering new business opportunities across the region. The project promises to improve the infrastructure that supports local tourism and enable collaboration with local educational institutions, such as LUT University. Among the most important long-term objectives are to diversify the region’s economic structure, to create new business opportunities and jobs and to promote research, development and innovation through the new museum. The priorities in the conversion of Imatra City Hall into the Wilderness and Nature Culture Heritage Museum are the development of new R&D&I models, investment in the acceleration of the experience economy and the piloting of new ways to unleash the potential of the green transition. The goal is to complete the works and open the museum in 2028.
