Technologically greener and more vibrant South-Eastern Satakunta

The decline in peat production is causing necessary changes in South-Eastern Satakunta, which need to be supported by R&D activities and measures that renew, diversify and support the regional economy and business life in order to maintain vitality. Investment is needed in new innovations, business models, technologies and the development of production processes, and in making them accessible and practical for businesses. The main objective of the project is to support a just transition to a low-carbon economy in South-Eastern Satakunta by (1) reforming and diversifying the regional economy and (2) strengthening the RTD activities of enterprises. The project has two long-term regional objectives: - To strengthen the future-oriented confidence of enterprises, employees and young people in South-Eastern Satakunta. - To secure the future labor supply for companies operating in the South-Eastern Satakunta. The project consists of three main activities: 1. A functioning ecosystem of the Satakunta BioValley 2. Experimenting with new technological solutions and green transition solutions to validate investments 3. Joint learning and training paths between educational institutions in South-Eastern Satakunta and bringing together companies and young people in the food chain. After the project, Satakunta BioValley has become a nationally recognised and acknowledged brand, which as a food production region will remain at least the 5th largest in Finland in terms of turnover and man-years of business.
