We need new innovative and functional approaches to secure the availability of labor for health care in Kainuu. One important option in a very challenging workforce situation is work-based immigration, in order to get enough personnel. The challenge is that KAMK does not have a bilingual nurse training program, where the international professionals recruited to Kainuu could come for qualification training. And the threshold for international talent to directly enter Finnish-language education is very high, almost impossible. The project complements the activities carried out in the KAMK_SOKA project, accelerates the access of qualified nurses to the nursing profession and, as a regional response, also creates a retention force to keep qualified nurses in Kainuu. The need for the development of teaching in bilingual nursing education as a whole and for the production of teaching materials is very great. The project will build qualification paths for foreign professionals, so that the access to the Finnish labor market is as flexible as possible for those who have completed nursing education/nursing degrees abroad. In the project, educational contents and materials are made bilingually, with the focus on nurse training. In addition, the goal is to plan educational offerings to support the attraction and retention of students from different cultures e.g. by developing working life internships and increasing the multicultural competence of work communities. Development of S2 education utilizing innovative teaching methods and work life training.
