The Labour Market of the Future

Despite the development measures taken, the mismatch between employer needs and employee competences or needed workforce numbers has persisted and even worsened, for example, because of the Covid epidemic. Regional operators often work on the same themes to solve the labour market mismatch without knowing about each other, and the field is fragmented. The causes of the problem vary by industry. There is no established model for utilizing information. Public services are not sufficiently known, and for example, there is no working model for cross-regional employment placement. The project clarifies and coordinates the development of joint actions so that the right development targets are found, overlapping activities are reduced, cooperation is enhanced and the best lessons learned from experiments and working models are shared. During the project, missing models of operation will also be developed, for example cross-regional employment placement and cooperation between the private and public sector. Added value is also created from the work of developing the networks and knowledge management. In addition, the project supports the preparation and implementation of the vast reform of the employment services in 2025 by supporting the proactive creation of services and networks that promote cooperation. The ultimate goal is to improve business and employment rate and secure workforce where it's needed to maintain society's critical fuctions, such as public health care. The project produces missing information, creates models for the production, processing and concrete utilization of information. New models to solve the problem are developed by supporting the network’s cooperation and coordinating sub-projects. The goal of the coordination project is to strengthen the effectiveness of sub-projects and experiments, e.g. by promoting best practices and connecting operators. The project also promotes the spread and implementation of best practices, as well as the recognition and efficiency of public employment services. Digital selvices are promoted and developed if necessary. In addition, the project supports the operators' preparation for and execution of the 2025 reform.
