Intelligent manufacturing systems in conjunction with digitalization of process data will have a great impact on contributing to Europe´s economic growth and thus preventing Europe´s de-industrialisation. The need for better educational competences in the fields of digitalization and industry 4.0 skills are highly emphasized and sought after by Finish manufacturing industry. Digitalization at industrial work project will pilot the possibilities of Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Mechanical Engineering) and Riveria Vocational training (Mechanical Engineering and Production Technology) to train new skills for production workers and engineers in the fields of digital skills and industry 4.0 competences. The project develops new procedures and models that can be used at the development of continuous education learning models between industry, regional development actors and educational providers. Digitalization at industrial work project supports at the same time development of technological skills (digitalization and industry 4.0) and building educational competences. The results of this project can be used at further developing collaboration between regional stakeholders (industry), regional development agencies and educational providers. This project will utilize the industry 4.0 demonstration platform at intelligent manufacturing that has been built to Karelia at previous investment and development projects. Karelia has built an industry 4.0 demonstration platform that combines laser scanning, robotized assembling and robotized welding into fully automated MAP-production cell (Metrology assisted production). This project combines the capabilities of Karelia´s industry 4.0 learning environment with Riveria´s industrial manufacturing training environment through joint real-life piloting courses.
