Working together - Support, actions and well-being

In Finland, it is estimated that there are up to 900,000 people living at risk of poverty and marginalization. Many of them have a background of long-term unemployment. These people persevere in everyday life on the aid and struggle with their insufficient livelihood and mental and physical endurance. The corona pandemic and many other socio-economic phenomena of disadvantage and their multiple effects have made it even more difficult for these people to survive and manage in everyday life. In addition to financial problems, key identified challenges in the target group are various substance abuse and mental health and addiction problems, lack of everyday and living skills, and many types of exclusion from different areas of society, such as social relations and working life. Project goals: 1. During the project, 75,000 payment cards (a 40e) will be distributed to the most disadvantaged. 2. The activity will reach 130,000 people during the project. 3. About 30% of all people who have received a payment card participate in ancillary activities. 4. The life management and financial skills of the people participating in the activity improve. 5. Those who participate in the activity feel that they can cope better in everyday life. 6. The awareness and understanding of the various services and benefits of society and the forms and activities of the organizations' support increases. 7. Those who participated in the activity understand the importance of healthy food for their well-being. The ancillary activities created in the project include e.g. the following well-being-increasing contents: a) implementation of service and financial counseling for the target group, psychosocial support, implementation of the client's personal change support together with the actors of the authority networks, general lifestyle guidance and walking alongside the client based on a personal encounter and necessary home visits to support family situations. Clients are directed to ancillary activities based on the voluntary and anonymous needs assessment carried out for them. As part of the distribution of payment cards, the applicant is asked to fill out an anonymous paper questionnaire, which can be used to evaluate e.g. own ability to function, everyday management and psychological, physical and social support needs. The survey consists of 10-12 statements, by answering which the customer's situation and support needs will be clarified quickly. The project achieves the following immediate goals and results: 1. We will reach 130,000 people belonging to the target group. 2. 75,000 payment cards (a 40e) will be distributed to the most disadvantaged people in need of help. 3. The financial situation of those who participated in the activity has improved and the feeling of getting by in everyday life improves 4. 30% of all people who have received a payment card participate in ancillary activities. 5. The life management and financial skills of the people participating in the activity improve. 6. The awareness and understanding of the various services and benefits of society and the forms and activities of the organizations' support increases. 7. Those who participated in the activity understand the importance of healthy food for their well-being. The long-term effects achieved by the project by the people who participated in the activity 1. people's everyday control and ability to function will improve and the physical, psychological and social problems identified in the surveys will decrease. 2. the opportunities to act and be a part of working and studying life are strengthened. 3. well-being and participation in society are strengthened. In addition, the role and importance of organizations and churches in people's lives is growing and their safety net is getting stronger.
