The aim of the project is to provide companies with solutions to labour shortages by developing and increasing the range of means to cope with and continue at work through tailor-made work. Customized work refers to work that in one way or another is adapted to the reduced working capacity and reduced resources of an employee. It is important to develop, alongside the models for the employment of part-time workers, the models of working and continuing work within companies. Such models also allow the employee to work when he&she is not able to perform a previous job due to, for example, health or other personal reasons. As a rule, tailoring the work is temporary and the aim is for the employee to return to his or her former duties after the situation has resolved or, with different measures, to new tasks. During the project, the management of companies will be committed to managing occupational capacity threats and strategic management of working capacity, and they will be built into a tailor-made work model from the company's own perspective. With the project, tailor-made work is seen to be profitable at all levels of the company (management, supervisors and employees), which facilitates the use of the operating model and creates equality. The project will identify the needs for the know-how and development of companies and will be used to draw up, together with the company’s representatives, plans for concrete training and development activities, including operational objectives and indicators for monitoring effectiveness. The joint development work involves the company’s occupational health care, with which the cooperation on occupational health related to tailor-made work will be specified. Co-development is done by means of methods that are best suited to the company, but by using the learning design process as the reference framework. Meetings and regional training and workshops will be carried out in cooperation with companies and universities. The aim of these meetings is to share information on the development of the Tailored Work model and to obtain development ideas from outside the project. During the project, cooperation will be built between companies of different sizes and with occupational health care and occupational pension schemes. At the end of the project, companies will have comprehensive knowledge of the various possibilities for tailoring work, as well as the operating paths designed for the company for tailoring work needs and the electronic Tailored Work Bank. The Tailored Work Bank gathers the materials, operating paths and real-time information on the tasks that can be used to tailor the work. General awareness of the possibilities of tailoring work is increasing, both with company management and with employees. This is likely to shape attitudes and facilitate the search for a solution in various situations that threaten the ability to work. According to the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, various support measures for working ability can contribute to the well-being and health of workers and reduce sick leave, long-term incapacity for work and exit from work. The strongest evidence of positive effects on health and working ability was found, among other things, in the model of replacement work and in the editing of work. The activities of the RäTy project focus on this by extending the perspective on the possibilities of shaping work and strengthening the competence of occupational capacity management. During the project, an open training package will be built from the Custom Work model. It is also possible to use educational materials as separate parts. The project will report on the number and quality of work capacity challenges faced by companies in South Savo as well as on the means available to support them with reduced work capacity. The study will help to create a general tailor-made work model that companies can use from their own point of view.
