The project focuses on promoting the productivity of the events industry in Päijät-Häme by improving digital skills. Päijät-Häme is Finland's leading organizer of international sports events and sports experiences (ÄES). The event industry covers several different companies such as operators and owners of facilities in the sports, tourism, restaurant, hotel and event industry, as well as many other companies. The tourism and event sectors are becoming heavily digitized all the time. Succeeding in the competition requires renewal and development of expertise in the field. The main goal of the project is to promote the digitization of the event industry and the development of companies' business by utilizing 3D modeling skills and visualization. For this purpose, a new course (20+20+20 students) is being developed and piloted, the purpose of which is to provide as clear, simple and necessary 3D modeling and visualization skills as possible. In addition, in connection with the training, multidisciplinary product and service development and innovation workshops on the possibilities of 3D modeling are organized for companies (20+20+20+20). Products and services in the tourism and events industry are often abstract until the customer uses the product. Digitization and modeling can create ways to model abstract environments for customers and implementers before the concrete product is completed. The target group is operators and owners of the sports, tourism, restaurant, hotel and event industries, as well as students, professionals and those interested in the industry and outside the industry. The project improves students' working life skills, learning in working life, digitization of the event industry, ideation of new business opportunities for companies, and strengthens and creates understanding, recognition and competence of digital services and opportunities of operators and students in the area by creating concrete lessons for operators and students about 3D modeling and visualization skills in event in business development in the field. Above all, the project supports Päijät-Häme's overarching goal of helping SMEs to digitalize. In addition, the project strongly supports the sports sector by creating the conditions for the development of tourism and well-being with the help of creative work and digital virtual environments, and the project can also have a positive impact on the food and beverage sector through restaurants and hotels. The project also increases cooperation and networking between operators in the area and strengthens the business life of the area as a whole. Digitization can also promote sustainable development to strengthen digital technology and competence, by creating new development, integration and operational models of the digital transition in accordance with the smart specialization strategy based on the identified workforce and competence needs. In particular, there is great potential for development around the experiential nature of the event industry and other creative activities and business, and this project will help ensure that it happens.
