The rapidly growing energy sector is globally in transition. Industry, transport and heating sectors are electrifying at an enormous speed. Electrification can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and disconnect sectors from the use of fossil fuels, which is the main cause of rapidly progressing climate change. The energy sector plays a key role in combating climate change. Wind power, solar energy and other renewable energy sources have already significantly changed the electrical energy system, and this development is only accelerating. The main goal of the project is to enable the electric energy sector to fade out of fossil fuels and switch to emission-free solutions (primarily wind power and solar electricity) by training the experts needed in the field. The goal of the project is to plan and implement an energy transition management training package that makes versatile use of different teaching methods and the special expertise of sub-implementers. The project implementers are Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The project develops new educational solutions for the renewable electricity sector. The most central of these solutions is “Energy Transition Management” Master’s 60-credit degree program. Smaller educational packages are developed for target groups who want to supplement their competence. In addition, a 30-credit education package will be planned for Master´s degree programs in other fields. The planning and implementation of the educational solutions is done in close cooperation between Kajaani, Tampere and Vaasa universities of applied sciences, which enables the project to have a wide regional impact and to utilize the special expertise of the UAS´s. There is currently no similar education package available in Finland. The project will also build a national and international cooperation network to share know-how, best practices and experience on current and future issues and phenomena in the renewable electric energy sector. The project also plans and implements a digital learning game for wind energy. The game will be designed in cooperation with the industry and the game is utilized in the project's educational package. The digital learning game diversifies pedagogical solutions in the energy sector and offers its users a motivating and inspiring learning experience. The education package will strengthen the skills of society's critical industry and will contribute to the availability of trained labor. Competent and trained personnel guarantee the high-quality operation of the energy sector and creates the basis for the development of innovative solutions in across Finland. The international cooperation between higher education institutions and the national industry cooperation network implemented in the project guarantees the quality, up-to-dateness and working life orientation of the education. The digital wind energy game will be released and can be used for free.
