Artificial intelligence skills to support work

The ways of doing work are changing with digital work tools and artificial intelligence, and this requires the employees of organizations to continuously maintain and develop their skills. The city of Joensuu and nearby municipalities wants to support its employees in the introduction of new types of work tools and to enable them to become a part of everyday work. Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a part of working life, and it can sometimes also cause fears for one's own workplace, for example. With the help of the project, we want to dispel these fears and bring out the possibilities of artificial intelligence as a smooth winner in everyday work. The project strengthens the professionalism and identity of the employees of the city of Joensuu and nearby municipalities by increasing their skills as part of the changing working life. When the city offers its employees the opportunity to develop themselves in their work and offers new tools to support their work, employee commitment is strengthened and the city's holding power as an employer increases. Committing and involving personnel in the introduction of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, right from the very beginning is important in order to carry out the change. When personnel are trained versatilely in the use of new digital work tools, many pitfalls can be avoided, for example in relation to the protection of personal data or the ethics of artificial intelligence. Strengthening digital skills reduces inequality and increases the employee's professional identity.
