The goal of the "Family Life" project is to: 1. Strengthen the skills and expertise of child welfare and family services professionals and family carers, in demanding child welfare and foster care cases. 2. Ensure a sufficient number of foster care families in the area and increase the number of diverse families as family carers. The goal is to guarantee a foster care family suitable for the child's neurodiversity, cultural background, or other significant needs for their well-being and development. This goal supports the realization of children's rights. 3. Pilot new forms of part-time family care and foster care respite practices. 4. Create a social innovation where family services and child welfare support services are linked to short-term foster care and foster care respite in a new step-by-step model. The goal is to ensure smooth movement between different levels of support according to the family's and child's service needs, and to address mental health or substance use challenges in a timely manner. 5. Promote interaction and information flow between the wellbeing services county and family carers. The goal is also to increase monitoring expertise, especially in self-monitoring. The target group of the project includes family carers, the wellbeing services county's child welfare social workers, social counselors and other professionals, and individuals aspiring to become family carers. The project is implemented in South Karelia. The project is carried out by LAB University of Applied Sciences in collaboration with the South Karelia Wellbeing Services county , Perhehoitoliitto ry. and Suomen Perhehoitajat ry.
