Road I-8 Kalotina – Sofia Ring Road (SOP), west of Sofia, is part of the “core” TEN-T network. With the CMD No. 959 from 31.12.18, the road from the Serbian border to Sofia was designated as the “Europa Motorway”, which is divided into three sections: • Section 1 - from km 1+000 to km 15+500, financed under the CEF. Completed at the end of 2023. • Section 2 - from km 15+500 to km 32+447.20 - modernization of the existing route, completed in 2021, with expansion to the required gauge and improved elements in individual sections. • Section 3 - from km 32+447.20 to km 48+903 - the route is developed on new terrain. The project, financed under the Grant agreement No. DOPTTI-5 /06.12.2022, includes the activities for the construction of sections 2 and 3, with a total length of 33.403 km. Part of this project has been implemented and financed by OPTTI - Phase 1, including section 2 and part of section 3. Unimplemented activities within section 3, which are beyond the eligibility period for OPTTI costs, are included in the current project - Phase 2. The activities implemented within Phase 1 are described in a separate document - Appendix No. 8 The activities within Phase 2, proposed for financing in this project include construction (according to the attached Bill of quantities-values - Appendix No. 12) and construction supervision. The implementation period of Phase 2 is 24 months with a starting date of 01.01.2024 and an ending date of 31.12.2025 and is proposed for financing under the TCP.
