With the implementation of Phase 2 of the project "Modernization of the railway line Sofia-Dragoman-Serbian border: railway section Voluyak-Dragoman" will be completed. The railway line is part of the "core" TEN-T network and part of Western Balkans - Eastern Mediterranean corridor. The project includes partial doubling and modernization of the railway infrastructure elements of the 34.487 km Voluyak-Dragoman railway section, according to the requirements of the TSI and Regulation 2024/1679 for speed of 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains. The scope of Phase 2 is described in detail in Annex I. The starting date of the main project is 21.03.2021 (signed contracts). The starting date of the Phase 2 is 01.01.2024. The deadline is 12.10.2028 The total implementation period is 58 months.
