The current project proposal includes the implementation of the preparatory activities necessary to reach full maturity for the modernization of Plovdiv - Filipovo open line. Project activities include: 1) Preparation of Technical Design and Detailed Development Plans 2) Assessment of compliance with the requirements of Spatial Development Act 3) Assessment of compliance with TSIs requirements 4) Update of conceptual design and amendment of DDP for road overpass at railway km 9+180 of Filipovo - Skutare open line 5) Update of Cost-Benefit Analysis and preparation of Application Form 6) Land acquisition 7) Information and publicity 8) Project management. The period for the implementation of the technical assistance project is 01.01.2024 - 31.05.2027. The railway section Plovdiv - Filipovo is located on the 8th railway line and Plovdiv Railway Node, which is part of the core Trans-European Transport Network and European transport corridor "Baltic Sea - Black Sea - Aegean Sea", as defined in Regulation (EU) No. 2024/1679. The modernization of Plovdiv - Filipovo open line will support the establishment of an urban railway by using the alignment of the existing railway infrastructure, which in turn will provide cost efficiency, city transport services and additional transport links. The modernization Plovdiv - Filipovo open line, the construction of a railway connection between Krumovo Station and Plovdiv Airport, the realization of the other projects for the development of Plovdiv Railway Node and the plans for concession and development of the airport, will ensure development of the transport connectivity within the city of Plovdiv by providing safe, reliable, ecological and fast transport. The project will lead to reducing air pollution, congestion, and risk of accidents, caused by road transport. The overall modernization of Plovdiv Railway Node is carried out in two stages, as follows (Continues in Annex No. 1).
