The necessity for the implementation of the project arises from the obligations assigned to the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company under the Maritime Space, Inland Waterways and Ports of the Republic of Bulgaria Act (MSIWPRBA) to maintain existing and construct new approach channels, port aquatories, marine and river disposal sites for dredged material, breakwaters, protective facilities, networks and facilities of the common technical infrastructure, including access infrastructure, at the ports referred to in Article 106a and at public transport ports – state-owned. The project involves the modernization and expansion of the technical infrastructure (berths No. 20A and No. 20B) for the handling of imported liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and petroleum products at the “Burgas East-2” port terminal, part of Port Burgas, aimed at ensuring the energy independence of the Republic of Bulgaria through diversification of sources for the supply of petroleum products. The deepening of the water area of the Eastern basin of "Burgas East-2" port terminal is a major dredging operation that will allow reaching the design depth of -12.55 m EVRS. This will ensure safe access and efficient operation of the port, while creating the necessary conditions for receiving and servicing larger vessels. The project includes the execution of the following key activities: 1. Capital dredging; 2. Construction supervision; 3. Design supervision; 4. Information and communication; 5. Archaeological survey. The project duration is 12 months, starting from 01.12.2025 - the estimated date of assignment of the dredging activities.
