The overall goal of the project is to improve the air quality in the municipality of Asenovgrad by reducing the emissions of PM10 from domestic heating, as one of the main sources of air pollution. The specific objective of the project is to replace solid fuel heating devices of households with alternative types of heating devices. For the purposes of preparing the project, a survey of the attitudes of households using solid fuel for heating was conducted, regarding their willingness to participate in the project. A mechanism has been developed for the replacement of old appliances with the procedural steps for the replacement, for accounting for the estimated revenue from the handover of the old appliances, for the administration of de minimis state aid (when applicable) and for prioritizing applicants and areas of intervention in the presence of more applications than the available budget. The conducted market research of average prices per product unit for the new appliances was used in order to correctly value the main activity of the project - delivery and installation. It is planned to carry out a large-scale campaign for the population to familiarize them with the possibilities of the project, technical support to collect applications from households, dismantling of old appliances, delivery and installation of new ones and design and delivery of photovoltaic systems for own consumption with facilities for local energy storage for energy poor households who have chosen to replace their old appliances with electric ones. The environmental benefits of the project will be expressed in the amount of emissions saved PM10. The socio-economic benefits of implementing the project are related to improving the health and quality of life of the residents of the Asenovgrad municipality and increased public awareness of issues related to air quality. The project will cover all settlements within the municipality, within their regulatory boundaries.
