The current project envisages the development of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), reconstruction, correction and covering of part of Al.Stamboliyski Str.The SUMP is a strategic doc. designed for urban mobility and the creation of a sustainable and ecological transport system.By developing the SUMP, the Municipality will improve its transport connectivity in the city, encourage the population to use public transport, and reduce car traffic.The environment will be improved, PM10 will be reduced, and the standard of living of the population will be improved.It is envisaged that with the development of the plan and subsequent implementation, the city will become more attractive and vibrant, without limiting accessibility, by offering an integrated high-quality and sustainable transport system.The project envisages the reconstruction, correction and covering of part of Al.Stamboliyski Str.,which will achieve the integration of the project, providing a new pedestrian connection between the central part of the city with the Varosha district, Loven Dom Park and the Botanical Garden.Lowering the level (digging) of part of Al.Stamboliyski Str. and organizing traffic through an underpass will improve road safety and will support more efficient vehicle movement.With the implementation of the project activities, the pedestrian zone will be expanded, safe conditions for passers-by will be ensured, and the quality of life of the residents will be improved.It is planned to build pedestrian alleys, new park furniture, new lighting, video surveillance, suitable vegetation for urban conditions, as well as the construction of irrigation systems.The separation of car traffic from pedestrian traffic improves pedestrian safety and drastically reduces the risk of accidents.With the renovation of the Linear Park in the bed of the Bistritsa River, it is planned to create recreation areas, benches and gazebos.
