Improving the Transport Connectivity and Urban Mobility in Varna

The project provides intelligent and sustainable solutions for transport and traffic management in the urban environment and on the territory of the entire Municipality of Varna, coordination of mobility and improvement of road infrastructure, which will have a beneficial impact on the environment. A problem with over 20 years of history will be solved - the connectivity of residents in the northeastern part of the municipality. The conditions for tourism in the area will be improved and traffic on the main road I-9, parallel to the repaired section, will be relieved. The development of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan is a mandatory step for achieving a sustainable urban transport system. In recent years, the cleanliness of the ambient air and methods for preventing its pollution have required the definition of immediate measures to be implemented by all EU Member States. In urban conditions, one of the largest polluters is the transport sector, which contributes to a large extent to air pollution with emissions from motor vehicle engines. In the large cities of the Republic of Bulgaria, one of which is the city of Varna, where there is active urban transport, pollution with fine dust particles (FDP10) is above the permissible norms, which negatively affects both the environment and human health. In this regard, environmentally friendly vehicles will be provided, through which connectivity within the territory of the Municipality will be improved and pollution from vehicles will be reduced.
